Ministry of Finance, Government of India in partnership with National Institute of Public Finance and Policy (NIPFP) organized a conference on economic issues last year. Based on its success, the Ministry of Finance has decided to enlarge the scope of the event and organize a major international conference on "Economic Policies for Emerging Economies" this December. This year's conference will be collaborative effort with contiguous seminars hosted by Delhi School of Economics (DSE), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Indian Statistical Institute (ISI). To mark this occasion, the week of 12-17 December 2011 has been declared as the Delhi Economics Conclave (DEC), 2011. A series of lectures, seminars and workshops during this period will be organized. Some of these events will be run parallel so that participants can attend the event of their interest. Some events may spillover beyond the week also. The central day of the conclave will be December 14, 2011 when the main plenary sessions will take place. The expected participants for the event include a broad cross section of society encompassing economists, policy makers, trade and industry representatives, experts from financial sector, academicians, researchers and students.
